This one strays from the EP theme and is a meta-tune about me playing my own guitar…or not. Maybe it does go with the theme of moving on after all. This one really reminds me of “Take Me Out The Dance Hall” by Pat Green. I guess that makes sense with Brett playing the guitar and Walt producing!
lyrics
Did I mention, I need attention
In my absence, I wanna be
In my prayers I'm always askin'
'Bout the road Ahead of me
In the light, I try to walk
To be good to the other guy
But sometimes I fail almighty
Sometimes I fail to try
But for now it' me and an old guitar
singing like I'm a great big star
hangin' on my own words
whatever they might be…
It's just an old song.. (Just an oldie…) [harmony on backup vox]
Just an old song (sticking with me )
Just an old song that like
Hangin out with me tonight.
When I start, I never know
which way it's gonna go
In the end it's always good
if I'm goin' with flow
In the rut, I sometimes fall
and it's hard to straighten out
so I set this guitar down
and I choose another route
And these days are long
and the nights are slow
but I like this room with the lights down low
never knowin' if I'll stay or go
(I always go...)
And I wrap myself in friends when I can
but mostly I'm a lonely man
Someday I might make a stand,
someday I'll go
